Can I keep a pet in my Strata Unit?

Conversation about keeping your pet,

There is no doubt about it, Australia is a nation of animal lovers. We have one of the highest pet ownership rate in the world, with the RSPCA estimating two out of three households have a pet of some sort.
Thankfully, at Whalers Cove it is acceptable to own a pet but you do need permission. Whalers Cove Owners Corporation rules govern the keeping of pets. The keeping of pets is controlled by the Consolidated Rules for Owners Corporation CS1613N The Boulevard Patterson Lakes.

What you need to do is simply, familarise yourself with the Owners Corporation rules, and get approval to keep your pet from the Owners Corporation manager and follow some simple guidelines.
Conditions are as follows;

  • Approval of a cat being kept as a pet by an owner or occupier by Owners Corporation will be conditional upon that cat being kept inside after dark.
  • Where an animal or pet has been approved by the Owners Corporation an owner or occupier must ensure that the pet or animal is not left unattended at any time on common property.
  • Where a dog is present on common property, a leash must be used, and the person responsible for the dog must remove waste left by the dog.
  • The Owners Corporation may revoke approval of a pet or an animal by resolution if it is resolved that the animal is a danger to the safety of other lot owners or occupiers or is causing a nuisance to the common property.
  • Where approval is revoked, the owner of the pet or animal will be given seven days' notice that the approval of the animal has been revoked. The animal must be removed.
